2D and 3D Twining
with Lissa-Jane de Sailles

Suitable for all skill levels

2-days, 9.30am - 4pm

Saturday 18 April - Sunday 19 April, 2020

$260 + $10 materials fee

In this workshop students will learn how to develop their twining skills using 2/3/4/5 strand twining techniques.

These skills can be used for both two and three dimensional projects such as wall mats or sculptural vessels. There will be an emphasis on correct hand positions for ease of movement as well as further technical tips for beginners or improvers.

Students may choose whether they want to work on a two or three dimensional project.

On the first day we will begin with learning how to stake up your project and form the centre or base of the work. There are several ways to begin each project and Lissa will bring samples of her work as well as demonstrate and teach various ways to form the base of the work. This base can be used for a basket or a wall mat.

Everyone will get a chance to refresh their skills on the first day so that on the second day we can look at 3/4/5 strand twining techniques and how to incorporate patterns in the work as well as ways to finish the work by forming a border.

This workshop is designed to be fun and fast paced for those wishing to expand their basketry and hand twining skills. Students will need a reasonable amount of manual dexterity.
