Create folded pocketbooks of your personal belonging(s)

In this class participants will learn how to devise artworks inspired by their own personal stories – where they live, what they use in their daily lives and what they might have a passion for collecting.


Finding a personal focus is a vital ingredient in visual storytelling. Using a variety of mixed media techniques including drawing, collage and simple mono printing; participants can construct their own history (his/her story).


In this one day workshop participants will learn:

  • How to find a creative story focus

  • Personal mapping techniques

  • How to turn intuitive doodles into inspirational mark making

  • Creative pocket book construction


At the end of the workshop students will have created a series of themed artworks housed in a simple folded pocketbook to use as a starting point for further inspiration or jumpstart their arts practice.


Tutor to supply: Book materials, maps, shipping tags, printmaking equipment (Scissors will not be provided)


Materials BYO:

  • Participants bring their own apron (optional latex gloves)

  • Personal ephemera including parts of a personal collection

  • Any particular maps of personal significance

  • Any personal art kit eg ink, brushes, knives, cutting boards etc
