Learn the meditative joys of wooden spoon making. This workshop will provide a chance to slow down and reconnect through focused awareness as we journey from tree to spoon.

Learn how to handcraft beautiful, functional wooden spoons in a calm supportive environment with the guidance of two skilled and talented teachers.

Spoon Sisters, Jill and Georgina will show you tool safety and basic axe and knife techniques to carve locally foraged greenwood into your unique spoon.

Absolutely no experience is required, just a can-do attitude and a willingness to engage with the nature of the wood in the process of carving. The traditional craft of whittling has been around for thousands of years.

Making your own functional object with natural materials is deeply satisfying as you discover a renewed appreciation for nature and your own creative capabilities.

Closed toed shoes essential. Good hand strength is needed.

All tools, materials, leather aprons and class notes are supplied for the group. A materials fee of $15 is payable to the tutors. This includes sourcing timber, chainsaw work, maintenance and tool preparation.
