Create collaged artworks using postcards and travel ephemera

In this class participants will learn basic collage techniques including layering, composition and inclusions to create a set of 12 collaged artworks on postcards.


Collage is a technique which can incorporate many elements including maps, tickets, stamps  text and found paper ephemera to create a visual story.


In this one day workshop participants will learn:

  • Finding a focus

  • Layering techniques using opacity and transparency

  • Basic composition techniques to create interest

  • Basic colour theory and its application

  • How to use additions to create compositional storytelling


At the end of the workshop students will have a collection of postcards which can be used for future upcycled art projects including cards, calendars and other digital merchandising.


Tutor to supply: Travel brochures, maps, paper ephemera and glue sticks. (Scissors will not be provided)


Materials BYO:           

  • ESSENTIAL: Participants to bring 12 standard size postcards

  • Personal travel ephemera including tickets, maps etc

  • Any personal art kit eg ink, brushes etc
